 CHAPTER 32

As a child, Brenda's would spend hours watching and trying to capture wild birds.  She would prop a cardboard box up with a stick, put bread underneath as bait, and wait behind a nearby bush ready to jerk the rope that would cause the trap to fall.  She reports that she never caught anything except for poison ivy, but in looking back can see that she developed a lifelong interest in birdwatching. A sad event, the unexpected death of her pet canary, started her searching for a replacement.    When researching which breed of canary she wanted, she determined that the American Singer was the one for her because, in her opinion, it was the ultimate songster

Her interest in American Singers sparked and ignited when she contacted Roger Stroman, a longtime member of the Northern Ohio American Singer Club Chapter 32.  She soon found out that Roger was ready and willing to answer questions about canaries, in general, and American Singers, in particular. 

As a result of Roger's encouragement, Brenda set up a birdroom in her basement and purchased foundation stock to begin a canary breeding program.  Her interest has blossomed to include two birdrooms, a dedicated birdroom "kitchen", and a website devoted to American Singer canaries and this hobby.

She served the club as their President in 2007.

Now living in Birmingham, Alabama, Brenda still maintains her membership in the Northern Ohio American Singer Club Chapter 32 and looks forward to continued affiliation with the club and lifelong friendship with it's members.
